Field Hockey Blanked by NCAA I Davidson


DAVIDSON, NC -- Hannah English scored two goals and Claire Perry had a goal and two assists as NCAA I Davidson topped Catawba 7-0 in field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Belk Turf Field.  The Wildcats improve to 4-8, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-8.

The Wildcats controlled the action all afternoon, firing 42 shots and holding Catawba to none.  Bronwen Gainsford (Lewisville, NC/W. Forsyth HS) recorded 14 saves for the Lady Indians.

English put Davidson on top 15 minutes into the contest on an assist from Perry.  The duo hooked up again for the second goal five minutes later.  Perry tallied her goal in the 23rd minute, while Finley Amato closed out the scoring three minutes before the break for a 4-0 edge.

Davidson recorded 30 of its 42 shots in the opening half.  Brit Donaldson scored a minute into the second half for the Wildcats, who added two more goals in the final five minutes.
