Catawba Field Hockey Program Discontinued

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College announced Monday, Nov. 9, that it has terminated its women’s field hockey program, effective immediately.  The announcement was made by Dr. Craig Turner, College President.  Turner, along with Catawba’s Vice President for Athletics Tom Childress and Athletics Director Dennis Davidson met with the current squad on Monday evening.  They informed the student athletes that their athletic scholarships would be honored if they chose to remain at Catawba.

Santoli Earns Player of Week Honors From womensfieldhockey.com

Catawba sophomore Sam Santoli (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West HS) has been named the Division II Player of the Week by womensfieldhockey.com.  The forward helped the Catawba Indians close the season with a pair of wins, including an upset of #3 East Stroudsburg on Monday.

Santoli Gives Field Hockey OT Win In Season Finale

SALISBURY, NC -- Sophomore Sam Santoli (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West HS) notched her second straight overtime game-winner as Catawba capped its 2009 season with a 1-0 win over visiting Limestone in field hockey action on Saturday afternoon at Frock Field.  The Catawba Indians end their season at 5-9, while the Saints fall to 1-13.

Santoli's Overtime Winner Stuns #3 East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA -- Sophomore Sam Santoli (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West HS) scored three minutes into overtime as Catawba upset third-ranked East Stroudsburg 2-1 in field hockey action on Monday afternoon at Whitenight Field.  The Catawba Indians, who were coming off an 8-0 loss to #1 Bloomsburg, improve to 4-9.  The Warriors fall to 13-6.
