Catawba College seniors Kurt Green (San Diego, CA/Mt. Carmel) and Matt Puccio (Oakton, VA/Oakton) have been named to the USILA All-America teams as honorable mention selections.  It marks the first time that Catawba has had two players named in the same season and Puccio also becomes the first two-time selection as he was also honorable mention in 2007.

NEW YORK, NY -- History was made on Friday as three members of the Catawba College baseball team were selected in the 2008 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft.  Seniors David Thomas (Winston-Salem, NC/Ledford HS) and Tim Smith (Walnut Cove, NC/S. Stokes HS) along with junior Jerry Sands (Clayton, NC/Smithfield-Selma HS) were the three selected, marking the first time in school history that Catawba had three players selected in the same draft.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College volleyball coach, Ginger Hamric, has announced the signing of four players for the upcoming season.  Joining the 2008 squad will be Megan Courson, of Statesville, NC, Taylor Doss, of Boonville, NC, Shay Meeks, of Kings Mountain, NC, and Erin O’Reilly, of Morehead Cuty, NC.

2008-09 Membership information and Football season ticket renewals are being mailed to all 2007-08 Chiefs Club members the week of June 2nd. Chiefs Club President Eric Slipp has set a goal of 525 members which is up from a record membership of 516 in 2007-08.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College tennis coach, Jeff Childress, has announced the signing of four men’s players and an additional signee for the women’s teams for the upcoming season.  Joining the Catawba men will be Corey Eldridge, of Sewell, NJ, Alex Kalmbach, of Mason, OH, Tom Mitchell, of Nanaimo, B.C., Canada, and Uri Yarkoni, of Kelowna, B.C., Canada.  The women’s addition is Jennifer Denyes, of Bradenton, FL.  The women's tennis also signed players during the early signing period in November.

Head Coach Jay Howell has added Nicole Danford, Ashley Gregory, Kim Crowley and McKenzie Burman to the official roster. Catawba College has announced several summer camp dates for 2008.  At Whitley Field on the Catawba campus, all-skills camps will be held from June 23-26 and July 14-17 with a pitcher/catcher camp from July 7-9.  In addition, at the Davie Youth Complex, Catawba will hold a camp from June 16-19.

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College’s Kelsey Babos, a rising junior, has qualified for the 2008 USGA Women’s Amateur Public Links Championships.  She shot a 72 on Wednesday at the Manakiki Golf Club in Willoughby, OH, to advance to the finals.  The 2008 Championships will by held June 16-21 at the Erin Hills Golf Club in Erin, WI.  It marks the second straight year Babos has qualified to the national level.
